“Through my singing and acting and speaking, I want to make freedom ring. Maybe I can touch people's hearts better than I can their minds, with the common struggle of the common man.”

- Paul Robeson

PERFORMANCE

Jaradoa produces straight plays, musicals, new works and revivals of existing works that promote mercy, beauty and truth. We strive to do theater that resonates, inspires, and asks better questions without sounding preachy, agenda-driven or like an afterschool special.

We are never more concerned with product than with people and process, since we believe that investment in people is the best way to ensure an excellent product. We want Jaradoa to be a place where professional theater artists can come do high quality work in a way that feels like theater camp, community theater, or college--wherever they first did theater simply for the love of it! We can't take better care of people in the community if we're not taking care of each other at home.

It is our wish that our performance and service sides always be in active communication. To that end, we continually look for ways that our productions can serve as outreach, and that our outreach programming can inform the stories we tell on stage. We believe that our shows should be a dialogue with our community. We are committed to diversity in our membership and our productions in hopes that people of all types will feel represented onstage.

We hope that you will become co-conspirators with us, both as audience members and as participants in outreach programs!
